What are Printable Bible Scavenger Hunts?

Printable Bible scavenger hunts put a twist to the traditional scavenger hunts. They’re your go-to solution for turning any rainy day or bible study session into an unforgettable moment of fun.

If you can, picture this… a collection of carefully crafted clues based on the bible. Each clue leads your kids on a journey through the Old Testament and New Testament. But these aren’t just any clues; they’re bible scavenger hunt clues designed to engage, educate, and get young minds curious about biblical concepts in a way that simply reading the Bible cannot.

More than just a game, each scavenger hunt takes kids through the Bible stories that form the foundation of our Christian faith.

This hands-on approach to bible study makes learning interactive and fun because well, who doesn’t love a good game?

What sets these printable scavenger hunts apart is their flexibility. They’re perfect for a wide range of settings, from quiet afternoons at home to get-togethers with friends. The friendly competition adds an extra layer of excitement.

Incorporating bible games like these into your family’s routine challenges the traditional approach to learning the Bible. So, why not give it a try? You might just find that this printable Bible scavenger hunt is the key to unlocking a new level of enthusiasm for God in your children.

How Does This Printable Bible Scavenger Hunt Work?

Let’s break down how everything comes together…

What The File Comes With

  • A list of clues for the hunt
  • Answer key for the clue locations
  • 10 pre-filled scripture cards
  • 2 blank scripture cards

What Else You’ll Need

You’ll need some basic supplies to bring your scavenger hunt to life.

  • A printer of course to print the file
  • Writing utensils – pencil, pen, crayon, marker etc.
  • A clipboard
  • Scissors
  • Laminator (optional)
  • A completion prize (optional)

Although some scavenger hunts are set up to be an outdoor Bible scavenger hunt, this one, in particular, is created to be used indoors in a home. The location of the clues are general places any home typically has.

Preparation Before Playing

Since I always promise low-prep activities, this one is no different.

After you’ve printed the file, you can feel free to laminate the pages if you think you’ll use it again. Helps with durability.

Otherwise, cut the Scripture cards on the border. Cut the clue sheet on its border.

And voila! That’s all the prep work that’s required for this game.

How to Play This Printable Scavenger Hunt

The whole goal of this scavenger hunt is to introduce some foundational Christian Bible verses to kids. The focus is to teach kids about Christianity and Christian living according to God’s Word.

After you’ve cut the scripture cards, you can use the clues answer sheet for reference of where to hide them. You can choose to use all of the scripture cards or not. They’re not designed to be found in any specific order.

Once you’re done hiding all the cards you’re going to use, you’ll give your child a clipboard and the list of scavenger hunt clues.

*Don’t forget to cross off any clues on the list of locations where you decided NOT to hide a clue.

Give the instructions for the game – the kid uses the scavenger hunt clue list to locate the scripture cards starting from the very top. Once they locate the scripture card, before moving on to the next clue, they must read the scripture card aloud.

This scavenger hunt can be adapted for 2-3 players as well, but I wouldn’t recommend any more than that as there are not a bunch of clues to begin with.

If playing with 2-3 players, you could have two players start with the first clue and compete for that same first card, and the third player could start with the last clue.

This can drive competitiveness as they work to gather the most amount of scripture cards.

Finishing the Bible Scavenger Hunt

Single Player – Once your child has found all the scripture cards you initially hid, you can conclude the hunt with a prize or final treasure.

Multi-Player – Whichever child found the most scripture cards is the winner of the hunt. You can either choose to reward all players with a prize for their effort or just the winner, it’s totally up to you.

Now is a good time to discuss the scripture cards and reflect on the stories/lessons they speak about.

You can now use the scripture cards as memory verse cards.
