Fun Christian Easter I Spy Free Printable Activity for Kids

Easter is such a fun time of the year for the kids. With big box stores bursting at the seams with Easter eggs, chocolate and bunny rabbits, it’s easy to lose sight of the true meaning of Easter.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s perfectly fine to enjoy all that Easter brings, but we’ve gotta remember to weave the Easter story in too. And that couldn’t be simpler than with this Christian Easter I Spy free printable activity sheet I created for you. It’s the perfect way to combine Easter fun with spiritual growth for kids of all ages.

It’s our job to make sure our kids know and understand why we celebrate this holiday.

Standard Easter i Spy vs. Christian Easter i Spy

(Not ready to receive this printable to your inbox? Scroll to the bottom of this post to pin it to Pinterest for later.)

As you can probably notice from the image above, this I Spy Easter activity sheet is a bit different from the usual I Spy pages you normally see.

For starters, the images in the activity are all images that are related to a specific piece of the Resurrection story.

Much like Easter has a deeper meaning than what we see advertised in the stores, the images on this printable serve a deeper purpose too.

I also left some white space between the images because sometimes iSpy games have the images so close to each other, and if I were a child, it would frustrate me when trying to keep track of what I was counting.

Even following the tips I mention below, my daughter still had some trouble keeping up with what she counted, but not to the extent to where she wanted to give up. She completed the entire page.

Easter-Themed Images

When you give your children this activity sheet, you can deepen their knowledge about the Easter story by explaining the different pictures on the sheet and what they symbolize.

Christian Easter-Themed images on a white background.

Dove

In the Bible, the dove normally represents peace or the Holy Spirit. We can have peace in knowing that what Jesus did for us offered us a new life. And when He left this earth, he imparted the Holy Spirit within us.

Bible

The Bible represents our source of truth for Jesus’ death and resurrection.

Cross

The cross is kinda the heart of Easter because it reminds us of the sacrifice Jesus made for us being that He died on the cross.

Donkey

When Jesus was entering Jerusalem on Psalm Sunday, he rode on a donkey. This day marks the beginning of Holy Week.

Bread

At The Last Supper, Jesus shared with his disciples that the bread represented his body, which we know that He gave for us.

Candle

Oftentimes, candles are usually lit to symbolize Jesus being the light of the world.

Flower

We decorate with flowers to show the connection of new life. Flowers bloom signifying new life just as we were offered a new life in Christ by what He did for us.

Grave Site

The grave site is just a symbolization of Jesus being buried after his death.

Palm Leaf

The palm leaves represent the palms that were spread out by the crowd as Jesus was entering Jerusalem.

Wine Glass

The wine glass reflects the wine that was drank at The Last Supper which symbolizes the blood Jesus shed for us.

Jesus

I mean, this needs no explanation… haha! But of course, Jesus is the main theme for this Easter holiday. His life, His love for us, His death, His resurrection, and His ascension.

Open Bible

This symbolizes the living word of God and an invitation for kids to also start reading His Word.

Heart

The heart just symbolizes all the love that Jesus poured out unto us.

Empty Tomb Stone

The empty tomb stone is the cornerstone of the Resurrection story, representing how Jesus was raised from the dead.

Crown of Thorns

A sad reminder of the suffering Jesus endured for us… a crown of thorns was placed on his head.

Tips for Counting the Pictures

Pair up. Instead of having this be an individual activity, your kids can work in twos to keep track of the counting. I won’t go into all the benefits just from this simple task, but learning to work together to complete a goal is a biggie.

Use jellybeans to cover the images. So if you want to tie in the standard Easter items with our Christian themed Easter activity, you can have the child use jellybeans to cover the picture they’re working on counting… that way, they can just count the jellybeans which will be much more obvious than the flat images.

Color code with markers, crayons or colored pencils. Since the images on this activity sheet are already colorful, the child can use a color to circle all the images of each particular item and then count the color coded circles. They’ll repeat this for every image using a different color for each one.

Answer Key

Your printable PDF file does include an answer key, but here are the answers as well:
