The Easter Story for Younger Kids Word Search Puzzle

Once upon a time, there was a very kind man named Jesus. He was very special because He loved everyone so much. One day, Jesus gave a big gift to all of us. He died on a cross to show how much He loves us. It made His friends very sad to see Jesus on the cross, but He did it to take away all the sad things we feel.

But guess what? The story doesn’t end with being sad. After three days, something amazing happened. Jesus came back to life! This is what we call Easter. On Easter, Jesus’s tomb was empty because He wasn’t there anymore; He had risen! This made everyone very happy.

Jesus showed us that love is stronger than anything, even death. Because of Easter, we remember Jesus’s love and the new life He gives us. We celebrate love, joy, and being kind to others, just like Jesus.

And that’s why Easter is a special time. We remember how Jesus loves us so much that He came back to life to be with us forever. It’s a happy time to say “thank you” to Jesus for His big love and to share love and kindness with everyone around us.

The Last Supper Word Search Puzzle

In a time long ago, Jesus and His disciples gathered in a room with walls full of stories, to share a meal unlike any other. This meal, known as The Last Supper, was a special time of unity and love. As they sat together, Jesus knew this was the last meal He would share with His friends before His journey to the cross.

During the supper, Jesus took bread, gave thanks, and broke it, giving it to His disciples. “This is my body, given for you; do this in remembrance of me,” He said. Then, He took a cup of wine, sharing it with them, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.” These actions laid the foundation for what Christians now celebrate as the Lord’s Supper.

But amidst the closeness, there was a shadow of betrayal. Jesus shared that one among them, Judas Iscariot, would betray Him. This news saddened everyone, as betrayal within a circle of friends was unthinkable.

Despite the impending betrayal, Jesus showed love and forgiveness, even washing the feet of His disciples, teaching them about serving others. The Last Supper reminds us of Jesus’s sacrifice, the importance of community, and the call to remember Him through the Lord’s Supper.

The Garden of Gethsemane Word Search

One night, after the Last Supper, Jesus and His disciples went to a quiet, olive tree-filled place called Gethsemane. Jesus knew what was coming – His toughest challenge yet. He asked His disciples to stay awake and pray with Him.

Under the moonlight, among the ancient olive trees, Jesus felt deep sadness and agony. He moved a little away from His friends and fell to His knees. “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done,” Jesus prayed earnestly, showing His willingness to obey God even when facing great fear. An angel from heaven appeared to give Him strength, but the weight of what was to come made Him sweat like drops of blood falling to the ground.

Meanwhile, His disciples, tired from the day’s events, tried to stay awake but soon fell into a sleep. Jesus found them sleeping, “Could you not keep watch for one hour?” He asked gently, understanding their spirit was willing, but their bodies were weak.

Suddenly, the quiet of the garden was broken. Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus’s own disciples, led a group of soldiers to arrest Jesus. With a kiss, Judas betrayed Jesus, marking Him for the soldiers. This moment of betrayal was the start of a series of events that would change the world forever.

Bible Verses: Matthew 26:36-56, Mark 14:32-52, Luke 22:39-53, and John 18:1-12

The Trial of Jesus Word Search

After Jesus was arrested in the Garden of Gethsemane, He was taken to face a trial that was unfair from the start. The chief priests and elders accused Him of many things, but Jesus remained mostly silent, fulfilling what the prophets had said about Him.

The trial took a significant turn when Jesus stood before Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor. Pilate found no reason to condemn Jesus, seeing Him as innocent. However, the crowd outside had been stirred up by the chief priests. They had to make a choice: free Barabbas, a known criminal, or Jesus. Shockingly, the crowd shouted for Barabbas to be freed and for Jesus to be crucified.

Meanwhile, Peter, one of Jesus’s closest disciples, was in the courtyard. Three times, people recognized him as a follower of Jesus, and three times, Peter denied knowing Jesus, just as Jesus had predicted. When the rooster crowed, Peter remembered Jesus’s words and wept bitterly, realizing what he had done.

This part of the story shows the deep injustice Jesus faced and the human weakness of denial in the face of fear. Despite the unfairness and betrayal, Jesus remained steadfast, showing His incredible love and forgiveness towards us.

The Crucifixion Word Search

On a day we now call Good Friday, Jesus was led to a place called Golgotha, which means “the place of the skull.” It was here, on a rugged cross, that Jesus would make the ultimate sacrifice for the sins of all humanity.

As Jesus was crucified between two thieves, the sky turned dark, and the earth felt the weight of this moment. Despite the pain and suffering, Jesus looked upon the people with love and said, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” This showed His endless mercy, even in His final hours.

Above His head, a sign read “King of the Jews,” a title that many mocked. Yet, in this moment of great sorrow, the truth of His kingship was more evident than ever. Jesus, in His kindness, assured one of the criminals crucified with Him that they would be together in paradise that very day, showing His power to save and forgive up until the very end.

One of the most touching moments at Golgotha was when Jesus saw His mother, Mary, and the disciple John standing nearby. He entrusted Mary into John’s care, showing His concern for His loved ones even as He was dying.

Jesus’s final words, “It is finished,” marked the completion of His mission on earth. He had given His life as a ransom for many, conquering death and sin once and for all. After this, He bowed His head and gave up His spirit, trusting God with His life and legacy.

The Resurrection Word Search

On the first day of the week, just as the sun was rising, something miraculous happened that would change the world forever. This day, known as Easter Sunday, marked the moment when Jesus fulfilled His promise and rose from the dead, proving His power over death.

Early that morning, Mary Magdalene went to visit Jesus’s tomb, but she found something unexpected—the stone that covered the entrance had been rolled away, and the tomb was empty! Confused and weeping, she saw someone she thought was the gardener. But when He called her by name, “Mary,” she realized it was Jesus, alive! Filled with joy, she ran to tell the disciples that she had seen the Lord.

The disciples were hiding, afraid and unsure of what was next. But when Mary shared her encounter, hope began to rise. Later, Jesus Himself appeared to them, showing His hands and feet, and saying, “Peace be with you.” In that moment, they understood the true meaning of His words and the reality of His resurrection.

Jesus’s victory over death brought joy and hope, not just to His followers back then, but to all of us today. It’s a reminder that love is stronger than death, and that with faith, we too can overcome our fears and doubts.

Bible Verses: Matthew 28:1-10, Mark 16:1-8, Luke 24:1-12, and John 20:1-18

Jesus Ascends to Heaven Word Search

After the joyous discovery of the Resurrection and several appearances to His disciples, Jesus had one last, awe-inspiring act to complete His earthly mission. This was His ascension into heaven, a powerful moment that would further assure His followers of His divine nature and the promise of eternal life for all who believe in Him.

Forty days after Easter Sunday, Jesus led His disciples to a place near Bethany. Here, He gave them His final instructions, telling them to spread His teachings to all the corners of the earth and to await the coming of the Holy Spirit, who would give them power and guidance. As they listened, something incredible happened.

Jesus lifted His hands in blessing, and as He blessed them, He began to rise, ascending into the sky until a cloud hid Him from their sight. The disciples watched in amazement as two angels appeared, asking them why they stood looking into the sky. The angels told them that Jesus, who had been taken up into heaven, would come back in the same way they had seen Him go.

This moment, known as the Ascension, is a fundamental part of the Easter story, marking the transition of Jesus’s physical presence with His disciples to His spiritual presence that lives with us today through the Holy Spirit. It was a promise that He would always be with them, and with us, even to the end of the age.
