Noah's Ark Bible Story Summary
When I was initially talking to my kids about Noah’s Ark, I focused so much on the animals because my youngest is infatuated with animals, but there’s so much more to it than just all the amazing animals.
A long time ago, the world had become filled with corruption and wrongdoing so God decided it was time for a fresh start. He chose Noah, who was righteous and without sin, to build a massive ark and fill it with his family and two of every kind of animal.
He warned Noah that a great flood was coming. Noah trusted God and worked hard to build the ark. When it was ready, animals of all kinds arrived. Once the rain started, it continued for 40 days and 40 nights, covering the whole earth with water.
After the rain stopped, the waters began to recede, and eventually, the ark came to rest on a mountain. Noah sent out a dove and when it returned with an olive leaf, he knew dry land was near.
God told Noah to come out of the ark, then Noah built an altar to thank God. In return, God placed a beautiful rainbow in the sky as a promise that He would never flood the earth like that again.
The Design of the Word Search
Noah’s Ark Bible Story
This is the kid’s version of the Noah’s Ark story and the story that’s listed on the word search puzzle.
A long time ago, the earth was full of people making bad choices. God wanted to destroy what He had created and decided He would cleanse it with a great flood. But Noah was good and loved God, so God wanted to save Noah and his family.
God instructed Noah to build a big boat called an ark. Noah followed God's directions, making the ark from wood and sealing it to be waterproof. He then brought in two of every animal…lions, elephants, birds, and more.
The rain poured down for forty days and nights. Noah’s ark floated. Inside, Noah and his family cared for the animals. When it stopped raining, Noah didn’t immediately leave the ark. Instead, he sent a raven then a dove out of the ark three times.
The first time, the dove returned. The second time, it returned with an olive leaf. The third time, the dove did not return.
When they finally left the ark, Noah thanked God. God promised never to send such a flood again. God showed a rainbow as a sign of this promise.
Noah’s story teaches us the importance of goodness and listening to God, and reminds us that God always keeps His promises.

An Answer Key
Even though this Noah's Ark word search puzzle is not hard at all, I like to provide an answer key for those “just in case” moments.
How to Use the Word Search
Using the Noah's Ark word search printable is super easy and can be a lot of fun! Here’s how you can make the most out of it with your kids.
Of course, first, you’ll have to download and print out the word search. You'll see a condensed story of Noah's Ark right on the page with some words bolded. These bolded words are the ones your kids will be hunting for within the word search.
I put a picture behind the word search, but I was sure to make it light enough so the words could easily be seen. Hopefully that is the case for your family.
You can start by reading the story together. It's a wonderful way to refresh everyone's memory about Noah's journey with the ark and all those animals. I know my 7 year old appreciates when I read to her, even though she’s fully capable of reading most things on her own.
But as you and your children read, encourage them to pay close attention to the bolded word so they can remember the words they’ll need to find in the puzzle. But if they can’t, it’s no big deal because they’ll be able to spot the words they need to find in the story.
Once you've read the story, it's time for the word search fun! Give your kids a pencil, crayon or the writing utensil of their choosing. Just explain to them that they'll be looking for the bolded words from the story which are hidden among the jumbled up letters. The words can be hidden in any direction—horizontally, vertically, diagonally.
And so that younger kids can also participate in the word search, I did not create any words backwards so it is less challenging in that aspect.
If they get stuck, remind them to look carefully at each row and column. Tell them to stop at every first letter of the word and see if it helps them spot the rest of the letters from that word.

Reflection Questions
These are some questions you can ask your kids as you wrap up this lesson to help them relate the story to their own lives.
How would you feel if you were Noah in the ark you built and the floodwaters started to rise?
This question encourages kids to empathize with Noah’s situation. It can explore feelings of fear and trust.
God used a rainbow as a sign of His promise to never flood the earth again. Can you think of a time when you felt worried, but then something happened to remind you that everything was okay?
This question allows children to reflect on their own lives and moments when they felt hope.
Why do you think it was important for Noah to listen to God and follow his instructions exactly?
This question helps children understand the values of obedience and trust in God, even when it’s not easy or when others may not understand.
More Noah’s Ark Activities
Noah's Ark Animal Parade
Have the children cut out pictures of different animals from magazines or use printable animal images.
Then you can use painters tape to secure them to a wall of a hallway. Let them create an “animal parade” leading them down the path of animals that were inside the ark.
Maybe, you’ll even want to have some animal sounds white noise playing on a speaker too.
God’s Rainbow Promise
After discussing the significance of the rainbow in Noah's Ark story, provide the children with blank sheet of cardstock paper, Fruit Loop cereal and glue.
Have the kids glue the pieces of cereal to create their own rainbow art.
