Bible Story Summary
Joseph's story begins with him being his father Jacob's favorite son. This caused a lot of jealousy among his eleven brothers.
Joseph had dreams that suggested he would rule over them and that didn’t sit well with his brothers at all. When their father gave Joseph a colorful coat, they grew envious.Â
The brothers came up with a plan to get rid of him. First, they threw Joseph into a pit and then they sold him to Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver. The traders took Joseph to Egypt where he was sold to Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh.
Despite his hardships, Joseph's ability to interpret dreams eventually led him to Pharaoh. When Joseph predicted a severe famine and proposed a plan to store surplus grain, he was appointed as Egypt's governor.Â
When the famine struck, his brothers came to Egypt seeking food, but they didn’t realize they had come face-to-face with Joseph. Through a series of emotional encounters, Joseph finally revealed his identity.
However, rather than seeking revenge, he forgave his brothers. In the end, Joseph's family moved to Egypt and were reunited again.

The Story
This is the story that’s on the word search printable.
Joseph was the favorite of Jacob's twelve sons which caused jealousy among his brothers, especially after he received a colorful coat from his father. Joseph had vivid dreams which showed his brothers’ sheaves of wheat and even the sun, moon, and eleven stars bowing to him.
One day, the brothers acted on their jealousy. They threw Joseph into a well and later sold him to traders heading to Egypt. Joseph became a slave in Potiphar's household, where he gained trust, but was eventually thrown into prison due to false accusations. In prison, Joseph's ability to interpret dreams was recognized.
Joseph was brought to Pharaoh to interpret dreams he was having. These dreams were a sign of an upcoming famine. Pharaoh was impressed and appointed Joseph as a ruler in Egypt. His job was to prepare the nation for seven years of famine. When the famine struck, it wasn't just Egypt that suffered. Joseph's own family needed help. His brothers didn’t recognize him. They unknowingly fulfilled his dream by bowing to him when seeking help. Eventually, Joseph revealed his identity and forgave them, reuniting the family.
